VFW Team Requirements

VFW Tournament is October 18 & 19th, 2025

Team Requirements:

  • All current players must be registered and play in the tournament to be included on the regular season roster.
  • All families must volunteer within each of their divisions.
    • Example: A family with two or more players in different grades will need to have a parent volunteer at each gym at some point in the weekend.
  • All teams must sell $1000 worth of ads or sponsorships for the digital program. 
    • For any amount sold over $1000, 50% will go back to the team in credit.

New Requirements!

  • Ads are due by August 31st, or teams pay must the balance of the $1000. 
  • If an ad or sponsorship is sold after August 31st, the dollar amount will be reimbursed to the team. 
  • We are requesting this so that we can gives time for our committee to create the tournament book and showcase our sponsors.

Tournament Weekend

The tournament is held over two days Saturday and Sunday. Teams are required to manager their own division including but not limited to:

  • Setting up
  • Commissioning games
  • Taking care of score keepers and referees
  • Cleaning up

Commissioners

Commissioning basketball games involves overseeing and managing the proper conduct of matches in accordance with official rules and standards. Responsibilities typically include:

  • Ensuring all game officials (referees, table officials, etc.) are present, properly equipped, and briefed.

  • Verifying team compliance with league or tournament regulations, including player eligibility and uniforms.

  • Overseeing game logistics such as timing, scorekeeping, and court readiness.

  • Addressing disputes, incidents, or rule violations in real-time.

  • Submitting post-game reports and documenting any irregularities or disciplinary issues.

The commissioner acts as the primary authority on-site to ensure the integrity, safety, and smooth execution of the game.
