Fundraisers and Volunteer Requirements

These events are necessary in order to offset gym fees, equipment, scorekeepers, commissioners, and refs. All families are required to participate in order to help the VFW Youth Group keep running.

Veterans Outreach

  • As a part of the Kazuo Masuda VFW Post 3670 and SEYO, we ask families to participate in the following activities:
Teams bring snacks to the VFW Post 3670 Monthly Meetings and introduce themselves to the veterans. Each team is required to do this once per year.
  • Represent VFW Post 3670 and help with Memorial Day Ceremony
  • VFW Post 3670 Clean-up Days (3-4 times per year)
  • Support, attend, and/or volunteer at various events held by other SEYO organizations.

VFW Tournament (October)

  • Tasks include, but not limited to, the following: commissioning games, front table, set up/clean-up, assist with monitoring the condition of the gym, restrooms, and school property, hospitality to scorekeepers, refs, and guests.
  • Each team is also asked to sell $1000 worth of ads or sponsorships for the Tournament program in lieu of the tournament registration fee.
  • Returning players must play in the tournament and parents must volunteer in order to join for the Winter Season.
  • Incoming 2nd grade families are exempt from this requirement during the 2nd grade year.

VFW Poker Night (Spring)

  • Each team is asked to sell tickets and contribute to raffle and silent auction prizes.
  • Actually attending Poker Night (as a player and/or dinner guest) is optional.
